Dominoes for two-year-olds, with a twist. On one side the 28 wooden tiles match fruit to fruit, banana to banana, strawberry to strawberry, drawn in Sarah Betz's soft colours. Flip them over and they become a counting game, with numbers 1 to 6 shown as little groups of vegetables.
Start with the fruit side and simple matching, then turn the tiles when your child is ready for numbers. The storage box keeps all 28 together, which matters with dominoes.
Matching trains observation and memory, placing the tiles carefully trains the hand, and the fruit and vegetable names arrive without anyone trying. It is a calm, ten-minute game that works at the kitchen table after crèche.
