These are the Nest Rings from Grapat: 24 wooden rings in four different sizes, grouped into six sets of four and painted in a gradient of rainbow colours that grows lighter as the rings get smaller. Each set nests together, smallest ring inside the next, until the whole set sits as one neat stack.
Children can sort the Nest Rings by size, group them by their gradient colours, or spread all 24 out to build patterns and scenes on the floor. This works well for colour matching, for grouping, and also as a mathematical aid, since children can compare sizes and count in sets as they play. With six matching sets, more than one child can stack and sort at once, or the rings can be combined into longer sequences and bigger towers. They also roll, so children discover how a ring behaves differently from a bowl or a cup.
Grapat make the Nest Rings in Spain from maple wood that is PEFC certified, and the set has won a Spiel Gut award. The Nest Rings suit a 3 years+ child who enjoys sorting, stacking and building with loose parts.
At BeoVERDE, we love that the rings can be a stacking tower one afternoon and a rainbow pattern spread across the rug the next.

The Grapat Story: Catalonia based Joguines Grapat was founded by husband and wife team Casiana & Jordi Grapat who were inspired by watching their young daughter play freely with very few, simple toys that she had at her disposal. They realised that when children are given freedom to imagine, they will enter a world of their own creation. Inspired by this experience with their daughter, they started to create wooden toys such as the Nins® (Catalan for 'children'), a beautiful range of traditional Waldorf toy peg dolls, that allow children to play freely without rules or structure, unhindered by pre-determined ideas or games.
Warning: SMALL PARTS - CHOKING HAZARD. Not suitable for children under 3 years. Keep this information for future reference.
