Twelve wooden pieces make up the Grapat Wonders playset, each one shaped like something from the floral world: nuts, seeds, bulbs, fruit and fungi. Made from natural and hand painted wood, and in a variety of natural forms, each of these 12 natural wonders is a unique work of art. Grapat make the set in Spain from maple wood that is PEFC certified.
Children can use the pieces for loose parts play, tucking them into a tinker tray or a heuristic treasure basket to turn over and examine. The set is a lovely way to connect with the natural rhythm of the seasons, and it works alongside the Grapat perpetual calendar as part of a seasonal display. A child might line the wonders up by shape one day, or mix them in with pinecones and shells gathered on a walk.
The Grapat Wonders playset is a wonderful and imaginative representation of the natural flora children will encounter when they are allowed to be truly wild, and its small painted details reward slow, close looking.
Wonders suits a 3 years+ child building a nature table or starting a seasonal display, and it makes a thoughtful gift to mark a change of season or a new school year.

The Grapat Story: Catalonia based Joguines Grapat was founded by husband and wife team Casiana & Jordi Grapat who were inspired by watching their young daughter play freely with very few, simple toys that she had at her disposal. They realised that when children are given freedom to imagine, they will enter a world of their own creation. Inspired by this experience with their daughter, they started to create wooden toys such as the Nins® (Catalan for 'children'), a beautiful range of traditional Waldorf toy peg dolls, that allow children to play freely without rules or structure, unhindered by pre-determined ideas or games.
Warning: SMALL PARTS - CHOKING HAZARD. Not suitable for children under 3 years. Keep this information for future reference.
