The Grapat Perpetual Calendar has 12 Nins® (Catalan for 'children') in 12 seasonal colours and is designed to display the day and month of the year. Each coloured Nin® represents a month of the year according to Waldorf teachings. Together with the wooden cubes the day of the month and the month of the year can be displayed. This creates a daily physical connection to the days and months which helps children to understand the passing of time.
The Grapat Perpetual Calendar has been carefully handcrafted by skilled toymakers from wood sourced from sustainable forests, and hand painted, using water-based non-toxic paint, and finished with vegetable waxes and oils to bring out the natural characteristic of the wood.
►Details: 12 Nins® in 12 colours (hight approx. 6.0 cm), 1 beech wood bowl, 2 beech wood cubes (with numbers) and a circular 4 season, 12 month platform
►Age: 12 Months And Older
►The Grapat Story
Catalonia based Joguines Grapat was founded by husband and wife team Casiana & Jordi Grapat who were inspired by watching their young daughter play freely with very few, simple toys at that she had her disposal. They realised that when children are given freedom to imagine, they will enter a world of their own creation. Inspired by this experience with their daughter, they started to create wooden toys such as the Nins® (Catalan for 'children'), a beautiful range of traditional Waldorf toy peg dolls, that allow children to play freely without rules or structure, unhindered by pre-determined ideas or games.
