A family building a calendar routine together, or simply adding to a growing shelf of Grapat pieces, will find a good use for these 12 Rings. They are made to complement the Grapat Perpetual Calendar, looping onto the current month or onto each of the monthly nins, with the month's ring and nin then sitting on the middle cup. Used this way, the rings turn a daily calendar check into a small, hands on habit.

The set holds a dozen wooden rings, each one in a different rainbow colour, in shades from warm reds through to cool blues and greens. Away from the calendar, children pick them up as open-ended Grapat wooden rings: they sort them by colour, count them out, stack them into wobbly towers or thread them onto ribbon or dowel. A child might build a wheel shape on the floor, matching ring to ring by shade, or combine the rings with Grapat Nins or other wooden peg dolls and block sets for longer scenes. These wooden toy rings work well as Montessori materials, since a child chooses how to sort, stack or thread them rather than following one set method. The set has won a Spiel Gut award.
