Thirty-six tiny domes, shaded from palest blush to deepest crimson — and a child is already reaching for the lightest one, then the next, then the next. The Grapat Mandala Half Spheres are 36 hand-painted wooden loose parts, each a gentle semi-sphere just 12mm tall, graduating across three tones of red so that the gradient quietly proposes its own first game before anyone suggests one.
There's no instruction sheet in the box, and that's entirely the point. Younger children will scoop them into a play kitchen as berries or ingredients, press them into a small world scene as stones or flowers, or simply group them by tone — all of it rich, purposeful play. As fine motor skills sharpen and pattern recognition grows, the same 36 pieces become tools for mandala play: laid out in radiating circles, layered with other Grapat sets for intricate symmetrical designs. The sorting and sequencing possibilities grow quietly alongside the child. Finished with non-toxic dyes and vegetable oils on sustainably sourced wood, they're as considered in their making as they are in their open-ended play.
At BeoVERDE, we love that a set this simple in form carries this much creative possibility — and that it layers so beautifully with the rest of the Grapat mandala family.

►The Grapat Story: Catalonia based Joguines Grapat was founded by husband and wife team Casiana & Jordi Grapat who were inspired by watching their young daughter play freely with very few, simple toys that she had at her disposal. They realised that when children are given freedom to imagine, they will enter a world of their own creation. Inspired by this experience with their daughter, they started to create wooden toys such as the Nins® (Catalan for 'children'), a beautiful range of traditional Waldorf toy peg dolls, that allow children to play freely without rules or structure, unhindered by pre-determined ideas or games.
►Warning: SMALL PARTS - CHOKING HAZARD. Not suitable for children under 3 years. Keep this information for future reference.
