A proper construction set for small engineers: 100 wooden pieces, including plates, blocks, nuts, bolts and washers, plus a wooden spanner and screwdriver to put them together with.
The booklet gives six builds to follow step by step, robots, helicopters and buggies among them, and after that the pieces go wherever a child's imagination does. Bolting a plate to a block, tightening it with the spanner and seeing it hold is the kind of satisfaction that keeps a four-year-old at the table for an hour.
Along the way come patience, planning and a good deal of fine motor control, with a side order of early mechanics: how things fix together and why they come apart.
Age: 4 years or older
Ideal For: Right for a builder from 4 years who wants real nuts, bolts and a spanner, with six models to follow and 100 pieces to go beyond them.
