Grapat make Round in Spain from beech wood that is PEFC certified. This loose parts set brings together shapes that all circle back to the idea of round: balls, semispheres and discs, each cut and finished with care.
In the box are 6 balls, 12 semispheres and 12 discs, in a rainbow of matching colours. Two semispheres fit together to make a whole sphere, and come apart again just as easily. The discs are slightly curved but never quite close into a full circle. A child might line the discs up on their edges, nest the semispheres inside one another, or roll the balls across the floor to see where they stop. The pieces work just as well for building Small Worlds as they do for early counting and sorting games, since the different shapes and sizes invite children to group them by colour, by form or simply by how they fit together.
Round suits a 10 months+ baby taking their first interest in shapes and colours, and it makes a thoughtful first birthday gift or a new addition to a family's collection of Grapat pieces.

The Grapat Story: Catalonia based Joguines Grapat was founded by husband and wife team Casiana & Jordi Grapat who were inspired by watching their young daughter play freely with very few, simple toys that she had at her disposal. They realised that when children are given freedom to imagine, they will enter a world of their own creation. Inspired by this experience with their daughter, they started to create wooden toys such as the Nins® (Catalan for 'children'), a beautiful range of traditional Waldorf toy peg dolls, that allow children to play freely without rules or structure, unhindered by pre-determined ideas or games.
