The starter construction set from Vilac: 106 chunky wooden pieces in bright colours, sized for hands that are still learning to grip a bolt and turn a nut.
Six vehicles are in the plans, a car, a forklift, an excavator, an aeroplane, a helicopter and a racing car, each built step by step and then taken apart to make the next. Soon the plans get left aside and the pieces turn into whatever is needed that day.
Building with real fixings teaches sequencing and problem solving, and the repeated screwing and unscrewing is excellent for dexterity. It is also a toy two children share well, one holding, one tightening.
Age: 4 years or older
Ideal For: Made for a child from 4 years ready for their first construction set, with 106 chunky pieces and six vehicles to build.
