A tiny berry sits on the table. It becomes a potion ingredient, then a market coin, then a seat for a ladybird. That is the quiet magic of the Grapat Fruits set — twelve hand-painted wooden pieces that follow a child's lead wherever their story goes.

Made by Grapat, a small family-run workshop from Catalunya, Spain, these loose parts arrive in a rainbow of rich, layered colours — plump berries, rounded citrus fruits, and gentle melon shapes, each one unique because each one is painted by hand. The wood comes from sustainable forests, finished with water-based, non-toxic dyes that let the natural grain show through. At 3 years+, little ones can pick, sort, arrange, and pretend to their heart's content. Line them up for a farmer's market, tuck them into a play kitchen, lay them into mandala patterns, or weave them into a seasonal small world play scene — the set shifts to fit whatever the day calls for. That is the beauty of Grapat's approach to open-ended play: no instructions, no right answer, just possibility.

Grapat Fruits also opens a gentle door to early concepts — colour sorting, counting, and the rhythm of seasons — all discovered through imaginative play rather than directed learning.

At BeoVERDE, we love that a set this simple — twelve pieces, no rules — can hold a child's attention across so many different kinds of play, and grow with them as their stories grow.

►The Grapat Story: Catalonia based Joguines Grapat was founded by husband and wife team Casiana & Jordi Grapat who were inspired by watching their young daughter play freely with very few, simple toys that she had at her disposal. They realised that when children are given freedom to imagine, they will enter a world of their own creation. Inspired by this experience with their daughter, they started to create wooden toys such as the Nins® (Catalan for 'children'), a beautiful range of traditional Waldorf toy peg dolls, that allow children to play freely without rules or structure, unhindered by pre-determined ideas or games.

►Warning: SMALL PARTS - CHOKING HAZARD. Not suitable for children under 3 years. Keep this information for future reference.
